BAHASA DAN IDEOLOGI: MENGUNGKAP IDEOLOGI DAN KEKUASAAN SIMBOLIK DI BALIK PENGGUNAAN BAHASA (KAJIAN TEKS MEDIA MELALUI ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS)
haryo, Su
rono, Su
Amin, Mujid Farikul

Philosophy; Science; Platform (ontological; epistemological; ethical)
Science is a subsidiary of philosophy. As a mother, philosophy has a responsibility to guard science in order to keep on the right track. Science building is on three philosophical foundation: ontological, epistemological and ethicl grounding. They are all important, no one can be abandoned. Science should not only highlight one these aspect. Nowdays science developes to become many branchs. Each branch tends to emphasize one aspect of some elements of science. The condition is more complicated when many interests get involved. Science must remember its duty and mission. Any sophisticated development of a science, should not leave its philosophical foundation, so that science does not come out of its essence, which is to be able to contribute to the life of mankind.

Furthermore, elaborated further needed is to develop methodological pluralism and theoretical unification in the social sciences are expected to confirm the two sides of the comprehensive-pluralistic approach in the philosophy of social sciences. The main thing about the legitimacy of the methodology underlying the study is to examine the criteria on what should have knowledge of it. Pancasila as ideology contains many teachings about how human should relate to the others, nature and God in the life of society and the state. Pancasila’s teachings believed truth and goodness by Indonesian peoples since been justified through a variety of scientific-philosophical studies. This is the meaning of Pancasila as a orthodoxy. On the other hand, the process of modernization spur the development of science and technology and phenomenon of globalization so that dynamics and changes in society take place quickly. In the context of practical guideline, the implementation of Pancasila should adapt to the development of national and international community. The breakdown of Pancasila’s values should be reconstructed continuously order to always stay relevant as problem solver and able to keep up with the the times. Revitalization and reinterpretation of Pancasila as a ideology should always be done in order to not become obsolete so abandoned by its adherents.

Transition of forest function; Puna; Negotiation; Discourse; Domination
Punan Longsep is one of other original inhabitant of the forests on Borneo who depend their live of forest commodity. Their transition activities managing and obtaining forest product are disturbed by the transition of forest function. In Longsep (which is included in the transition areal of forest functions) there has been an interaction between Punan and HGU license holders or other groups. Interaction and communication thats led into various discourses to a variety of floating discourses. Furthermore, these discourses are negotiated to be part of the fulfillment of life needs. Many discourses have obtained by conducting live. Experience shows that there is a dominant discourse. Among discourses, there is a discourse that become a main role for Punan’s life. This discourse reinforces the hypothesa that there is a dominantion for Punan. The domination seems in the changing of Punan’s people. The main discourse domination that is appeared in their live is about “company discourse”. This discourse builds and shapes their life of Punans, that probably changes their orientation and perspective on companies in Longsep, that makes Punan only depend on the companies and can not do anything without the company. The dominance discourse seems to be the basic transformation of life practice for Punan.

Irhandayaningsih, Anna
FIB UNDIP
Indonesian as a nation state cannot avoid the challenges of globalization, but by adhering to the Pancasila as its guiding principles, Indonesia will be able to maintain its existence and identity. This paper argues that nurturing nationalistic spirit within the mind of young generation since times of childhood will make them more resilient to the negative influence and moral decadence rampant in the era globalization. Thus, by strengthening the morality and ethics through Pancasila education, the young generation of Indonesia will be more equipped to face globalization and maintaining Indonesian identity at the same time.

ABSTRACT
The character of a community, especially the younger generation is the identity of the community itself, and the existence of a nation is determined by the character owned. The important role of young people in dealing with the problems in this era of globalization is the return builder character (character enablers), empowering character (character builders) and engineer character (character enginee). MUWUJUDKAN BUDAYA POLITIK SANTUN, BERSIH DAN BERETIKA DALAM RANGKA MEMPERKOKOH KEHIDUPAN BERBANGSA DAN BERNEGARA
Widodo, Wahyu
Abstract

modes of existence; female’s body; backlash; intra-racial racism; otherness
This paper deals with the novel entitled The Blacker the Berry written by Wallace Thurman. The focus of analysis is on the existence of Emma Lou, a young woman with very black skin. The literary research method used is the contextual method supported by Sartre’s ‘Modes of Existence’, Bergoffen’s concept on female’s body, the concept of intra-racial racism, and Faludi’s ‘Backlash’ framed in feminist literary criticism. The result shows that it is not easy for a young, black-skinned woman to live in a world still strictly applied intra-racial racism. She has to endure a bombardment of existential backlashes in the form of otherness due to the ideology adoring lighter skin. Her decision to construct her own existence emerges after she is able to accept her specific blackness.

BAHASA POLITIK DALAM PERSPEKTIF FILSAFAT BAHASA LUDWIG WITTGENSTEIN
Wilujeng, Sri Rahayu
ABSTRACT
In Ancient Greek, human being is termed Homo ludens, a game-player animal. In Wittgenstein’s perspective, politics may then be defined as a game which needs a language game as a means of communication. All political systems practiced throughout the world use language games, and the democratic system is the one most dependent to its language game. Through the game, political institutions gain vote and collect sympathy from the people. By practicing language game one persuades others in order to have same opinion or idea. Therefore, one should be careful and critical in weighing political statements, questioning what meanings lie behind them, within the democratic system.

Bumi Manusia novel; bourgeois; proletarian; literature sociology
“Bumi Manusia” is a novel showing the mental turmoil of the characters situated between two cultures, two values, and two understandings. This novel successfully describes not only the cultural revolution in a colonized country but also an objection against the absolute supremacy of cultural and social value. The material object of this research is a novel entitled “Bumi Manusia” written by Pramudya Ananta Toer, with the formal object, that is, the description of social relationship between the Java and the European society, or otherwise between the bourgeois and the proletarian. This research adopts the literature sociology approach as the perspective study. Literature sociology is an approach focusing on the relationship between literature works and social values in the life of the author and readers. The discussion and result of this research are conflict, confrontation, as well as social relationship between the bourgeois and the proletarian. The European thought that they were in the highest level, because of being educated compared to the Javanese, so the Javanese had to believe whatever they said. On the other side, there were some natives of European descent who behaved humbly and treated the native in a good way although they had European blood and they were rich, one of them is Annelies. Minke, a blue-blooded native of Java, was able to get out of her ‘Javanese caterpillar’ to be an independent and free human. She, even, split her ‘European soul’ which she got from school, which became the symbol and ‘qiblah’ of knowledge and civilization at that time.

KONSEP MAGNANIMITY SEBAGAI TUJUAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DALAM FILOSOFI PENDIDIKAN CHARLOTTE MASON
Nugroho, Ellen Christiani
It is desirable that education will result not only intelligence, but also noble character in students’ personality. This desire should first have its base on strong philosophical answer for the question of why, i.e. why must we educate at all. We then must examine deeply our vision of education which will determine the course of our educational method and action. Charlotte Mason provides us with the concept of magnanimity as the desirable end result of character education. This concept embraces holistic aspects of education: the academic, the practical, the philosophical, and the spiritual. High thinking balanced with lowly living, wide interests on different kinds of subjects, a lifelong-lasting desire to learn are her some criteria of that desirable end result. She insists that educators should hold grand vision and aim as highest as possible, not merely limited by materialistic or utilitarian scheme of success. Education then will become more than a system, but a method, i.e. a flexible attempts to achieve substantially clear educational goal.

Ethnographic work of the book is more likely to be in line with the thinking of post-modernism, which saw a radical change from an industrial to the postindustrial organized cultural consumption, mass media game, and the development of information technology. DISSEMINATING MULTICULTURALISM THROUGH THE TEACHING OF TRANSLATION
Laksono, Arido
ABSTRACT
Students are expected to change the world. Their perspectives represent the way they view the world and its phenomena. The broader knowledge they possess, the more tolerance they have in interpreting life. In the global era, students should understand the importance of having good knowledge in multiculturalism. They will involve in an inter-cultural encounter since sources of information are widely offered. The willingness to have such an open mind is required in order to develop a better place to live and work. One way to disseminate multiculturalism values is using text containing information about culture and social values. The text written in English or Bahasa Indonesia for the class designed in disseminating multiculturalism is Translation. Here, students are taught to interpret the messages conveyed and translate the information from the source language to the target language correctly. Teacher must have good and creative technique in delivering the material so that students really enjoy the class and deeply understand the topic. The teaching and learning process in Translation class, therefore, is an effective medium to achieve the expected purpose as stated above. Theory of translation will not be the one and only theory to do the translation job, but it also needs comprehensive knowledge on other social sciences. Hence, translation class will not only discuss lines of words in a paragraph, but also reciprocal discussion among the members of the class. At the end, students will have the ability to translate such information in a text correctly and to establish civic society with more open comprehension over society and its culture.

Sosrokartono is a spectacular philosopher. He gave moral teachings as well as practicing the teachings consistently and consequently in his daily lives. Most of its moral teachings are deontological. Sosrokartono teaches that man in his life should fulfill its obligations. The obligation of human life is to love and devote ourselves to God, Al Khalik. The manifestation of obligation is to do something like help to fellow human being who need outright, with no strings attached (“leladi mring sesami”).
Central of Sosrokartono’s moral teachings is formulated in “Ilmu Kantong Bolong”. Sosrokartono’s moral teachings are very relevant to address problems of demoralization that hit Indonesian society and the nation at this time, as the excesses of swift currents of globalization. Sosrokartono’s moral teachings, which emphasize concern for the fate of others, can eliminate attitudes that materialistic, invividualistic, secularistic, and hedonistic which is endemic.

NASIONALISME BURUH DALAM SEJARAH INDONESIA
Yuliati, Dewi
ABSTRACT
The state and the workers have close relationship, because the state is a political unity between the folks (includes the workers) and the government as the states’ administrator. In the context of industrial relationship, there often takes place interest differences between the state and the workers, and this condition can rises conflict between these two parties. Generally, the workers are judged as the marginal party who struggle only for the economical reasons, without any thinking of political stability. This research shows that this point of view is not exactly true, because the workers really dare to search justice and prosperity for the folks. This research concludes that the workers movement can be the inspiration to strengthen the Indonesian nationalism.

National sport has a considerable influence in strengthening the existence of a nation. Pencak Silat is both a sport and a martial art originally Indonesian. More than just a means to protect self-defense, it can also be a vessel of nationalism, an identity of Indonesia in its art and aesthetic beauty. Its movements resemble those of Indonesian animals and uniquely contain traditional dance characteristic. In some ethnic cultures, this martial art becomes an integral part in rituals and religious ceremonies. It is then concluded that Pencak Silat may directly or indirectly build and develop the personality and noble character of Indonesian people through sportsmanship training.
Keywords: Pencak Silat, nationalism, traditional martial art.

This paper discusses the homosexual practices among students at Pondok Pesantren As-Sakan. By using queer and homosociality theory, the paper will show that human sexuality is a very complex continuum, in which homosexual practices can be manifested in various forms. It will be shown that same-sex relationships are built on male friendship patterns among men, mentorship, entilement, competition between homosexuality and heterosexuality in intimate relationships so that there is a shift in the relationship in it. The practice of sex segregation which is part of the normative practice of the boarding school, manifested in, for example, activities, rules and sanctions, as well as facilities and infrastructure of the school, can be argued to have engendered practices that can be categorized as homosexual practices.

topic; topic boundary markers; absurd play
People sometimes experience miscommunication when they have a conversation. It may happen because they fail to recognize the topic of discussion and the topic shift markers. A conversation has a clear structure that is not realized by the speakers. In this study, the writer chose The Lesson, one of the most famous absurd plays by Ionesco, as the data. In this play, the structure of conversation is difficult to understand, especially in the conversation between the Professor and the Young Pupil. Based on this condition, the writer investigates the structure of the conversation between the Professor and the Young Pupil in order to find the main topics and the topic boundary markers occurred in the topic shift in the conversation. The data were analyzed using the theories of topic shift by Coulthard (2014) and topic boundary markers by Stenstrom (2014). The findings show that there were four topics in the conversations between the Professor and the Young Pupil and ‘let’s’ is the topic boundary marker often used to open a new topic and to close a topic. In conclusion, even in an absurd play where the structure is difficult to understand, there is a clear structure of the conversation.

KAJIAN SOSIOKULTURAL USAHA GARAM RAKYAT DI ACEH
Rochwulaningsih, Yety
ABSTRACT
The article entitled "Sociocultural Studies on People’s Salt Business in Aceh" examines the question of how people’s salt business in Aceh lasted for generations. How and why women seemed to play a bigger role in people’s salt business in Aceh and whether or not there were socio-cultural and economic dimensions underlying it. In-depth interview, focus group discussion, and observation data collection methods as well as documents and literature studies were used to examine the issue along with qualitative analysis methods. The findings showed that the salt-making business in Aceh was identical with women. In some areas such as East Aceh, North Aceh and Pidie, majority of salt-making business applied the boiling method although some areas also applied solar evaporation method. The dominance of boiling method implementation was able to construct the system of production relation pattern, distribution and marketing of people’s salt that placed women as the central figure. In this case, it was women that virtually dominated all stages in the complex process of making and marketing of salt, in the heat of the sun and the boiling kitchen, consuming a lot of power (energy) and time. The dominance implied the economical authority of women in their domestic life.

imprisonment; feminist literary criticism; mental disorder; oppression.
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the problems around the imprisonment of the female protagonist in Chalotte Perkins Gilman’s short story entiled The Yellow Wallpaper. The focus of the analysis is on the actors and factors causing imprisonment, types dan impacts of imprisonment, efforts to overcome the imprisonment, and the end of the imprisonment experienced by the female protagonist. To analyse this problems, feminist literary criticism is used supported by the stereotypes of the nineteenth century women, the medical opinion at that time and the feminist perspective concerning the mental disorder experienced by women, and the concept of oppression in the imprisonment as well. The result shows that a woman who experiences the physical and psychological imprisonment in the patriarchal household area tends to have mental disorder as an alternative to gain freedom. The conclusion that can be drawn is that in the patriarchal environment women’s movement area and psychological, emotional, intellectual actualization tend to be limited in which the women who fight against those linitations will get the stigma of suffering from mental illness.

MORAL ETHICS AND PERVERSE EMOTIONAL STRATEGIES IN HAWTHORNE’S WORKS
Hendrarti, I.Maria

Hadiyanto, .
Abstract
This article discusses white-skinned race colonization and its impacts on African black-skinned race tribal society and culture in African Anglophone novel Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe. The approach used in this research is post-colonial approach by using post-colonial theory to analyze phenomena as well as the implication of the colonizer and the colonized relationship. The result of this research indicates that the coming of white-skinned race colonialists in African Ibo tribe community with their colonization and cultural imperialism is implemented with varied strategies. Those strategies are proven effectively in strengthening white-skinned race’s colonial hegemony in Africa. The white-skinned race colonialists’ imperialism results in horizontal conflict and cultural-social disintegration in African native society; between the pro-colonial and the anti-colonial. Anti-colonial resistence is shown by most African native society to fight against colonial government arrogance and to resist white-skinned race imperialism in Africa.

ABSTRACT
Multiculturalism is a tool, and method, vehicle or the equivalent notion of ideology, function to enhance human dignity and self resilience. Since multiculturalism is a tool then the sense of culture or ideology embodied in the term multiculturalism should be viewed from the perspective of function for human life. Multiculturalism has always built based on the philosophical outlook of a nation on the meaning of life and life, and relationships with environment as well as the creator. Then every nation in giving practical meaning of multiculturalism will be colored by its philosophical outlook. The multicultural education paradigm led to the creation of attitudes of learners who want to appreciate, respect for ethnic, religious and cultural society. Then, too, multicultural education to give awareness to students that differences in ethnicity, religion and culture as well as the other does not become a barrier for students to unite and cooperate. Thus, Pancasila as an ideology of education is needed, especially considering the posture of Indonesia in the form of an archipelago, and pluralistic world is at a cross position.

advertising; beauty; discourse, mimicry; South Korea
This study aims to reveal the discourse contained in the advertisement of New POND'S White Beauty: What Our Brand Ambassadors are Saying and its relation to the life of the people in Southeast Asia. The researcher uses the critical discourse analysis method by Norman Fairclough to examine the advertisement which portrays the brand ambassadors from Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam's assesments about POND'S White Beauty product which is claimed to make their skin as white as Korean women. The researcher focused on the text analysis and social praxis based on the content of the advertisement. The researcher also adopted Poscolonial approach, focusing on the use of mimicry theory by Homi K. Bhabha after knowing the link between the text in the advertisement and the social praxis. By using mimicry theory, the researcher is able to know the perception of women in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, about Korean women who have smooth and white skin. The researcher finds that the New POND'S White Beauty: What Our Brand Ambassadors are Saying advertisement shows the discourse of Korean women's beauty skin as the new ideal standard of beauty which believed by Southeast Asian. It is represented by the three brand ambassadors in the advertisement. Thus, it can be said that South Korea as one country in Asia has the power to spread its culture and colonize other countries there. It also shows that colonization of Asian countries is no longer only done by Western countries, but also by the fellow Asian countries themselves.

TANTANGAN TERHADAP EKSISTENSI NEGARA BANGSA INDONESIA DAN PEMAKNAAN KEMBALI NASIONALISME
Sugiyarto, Sugiyarto
Concrete experience in the past has made the term nationalism very important in constructing Indonesian identity, as a unifying factor of diverse communities throughout the archipelago, not merely an academic, theoretical concept. The nation state ideology found its final expression in Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. But even since the birth of this Republic, ideological conflicts never stop happening. And unfortunately, since the new order regime, the meaning of nationalism keeps on being distorted, manipulated, and then decreases into phenomena of separating actions from many local communities, showing their refusal to continue to be a part of Indonesia nation state. There is a need to reinterpret nationalism through Pancasila values in the current global era.

FAKTA SOSIAL: OBYEK PENELITIAN LINGUISTIK MODERN
Purwoko, Herudjati
ABSTRACT
This paper is explanatory in nature. It forwards an argument that the subject matter of language research in the modern times must be based on parole as a technical term originally coined by Saussure. The term best refers to the nature of linguistic data in the form of language really executed (uttered) by its native speakers in actual interactions. The speakers, thus, are real (instead of ideal) people belonged to a certain linguistic community replete with socio-cultural values embedded in their language. Supported by in depth readings mostly taken from the classic works of Saussure, of selected American Descriptivist and of Sampson, this paper concludes that parole as the subject matter of language research is a social fact.

PENATAAN DRAINASE PERKOTAAN BERBASIS BUDAYA DALAM UPAYA PENANGANAN BANJIR DI KOTA SEMARANG
Suliyati, Titik
Abstract
Flood happened in most of Indonesian areas is basically because of the condition of nature and human conduct. As any other cities in Indonesia, Semarang is a city that never free from flood and it is getting worse and worse each year. Ten to sixteen sub-districts are flooded increasingly each year, among others Northern, Eastern and Western Semarang. Histotically, Semarang is never free from flood. Through forced labour, in 1850 and 1896 Dutch colonizer built two big cannals, called East Banjirkanal (Banjirkanal Timur) and West Banjirkanal (Banjirkanal Barat) anticipating flood in Northern Semarang that becomes business center in Semarang harbour. East Banjirkanal was built to anticipate flood in East Semarang and the development area of Semarang harbour. Originally those cannals built to flow water from the upper part of Semarang (area of Semarang district on the foot of Ungaran hill). Flood problem should be handled not only by structural method, such as building infrastructure, but also by non-structure method namely social and socio cultural aspects. To overcome flood in Semarang, wholy and integratedly starting from planning phase, execution, reconstruction, evaluation and revitalization should be carried out. In planning activities, synoptic comprehensive and transactive or social learning are applied. Synoptic comprehensive planning is applied to study technical problems and policies related to execute the technical execution. Administered synoptic comprehensive is comprehensively, inter-sectors and administration. Transactive or social learning is stressed on social participation related to awereness, objective and education related to culture that nurture the environment maintenance.

publisher; profiles; chicklit and Teenlit novel; industrial products, image.
Literary works are cultural objects of industrial products. Speaking about the production of literary works meant dealing with laws (systems, mechanisms, and strategies) imposed by the institution concerned-producing, ie the publisher. Therefore, publisher institution (chicklit novel and Teenlit) will create a typical industrial laws, which differ from the laws of other publisher institutions. Systems and mechanisms production of chicklit and Teenlit novel consist of the publisher profile, script acquisition (recruitment), script editing (editing), and script distribution (distribution). Publisher profile includes the publisher history, the publisher specifications and product diversification, as well as the publisher contact. In the modern business communication, publisher identity is as important as product identity. Consumer’s trust is built through the image depiction of products and publisher, thus publisher profile becomes the main reference for consumers. Therefore, in the publisher profile description, it always emphasized its excellence experience (history) in publishing the kind of novel as mentioned before, the specifications and features of products they produce, as well as the tools and the modern systems- mechanisms production (worker qualification, printing machines, management). In relation to the publisher profile, some publishers, Elex Media Komputindo, GagasMedia, and Gramedia Pustaka Utama, have been uniquely designing and presenting (honest, intelligent, and "hanging") and convince the society of readers, especially the readers of Teenlit and chicklit novel.

This article discusses about philosophy of science according to Karl R. Popper and Thomas S. Kuhn. There are similarities and differences between their views about how progress and what function of science.Apparently both Popper and Kuhn agree that science does not proceed by induction. However Kuhn disagrees with the view that science progresses by falsifiability through conjectures and refutations, but occurance by paradigm shift. Popper and Kuhn’s disagreement amounted to a distinction between two functions within the practice of science, one of criticism (Popper) and one of puzzle solving (Kuhn).Science education implies the teaching and learning of science interesting and fruitful in one hand, and teachers should be role models to students in the other hand

MAKNA KEHIDUPAN MANUSIA MENURUT ALBERT CAMUS
Allien, Astri Adriani
FIB UNDIP
Albert Camus is an important figure in the history of French literature with his main themes, absurdity and suicide. Using the method of intertextuality, this paper analyses Camus’ thoughts on the absurd meaning of life portrayed through the character Mersault in his work L’Etranger. It is then found that this work carries the same philosophical ideas of absurdity as found in his famous essay Le Mythe de Sysiphe, and make those ideas more easily understood. The difference between those two works is just of genre.

The development of handicraft tourism in the regency of Jepara attempts to empower local communities as the owners and preservers of local values. Several clusters that become the focus of the study in this research involve the clusters of furniture and woodcarving, sculpture, rattan, troso weaving, batik painting and monel.
Some clusters are not ready yet to welcome the idea of handicrafts tourism. However, the clusters of furniture and woodcarving, troso weaving and sculpture have claimed to be ready for the establishment of handicrafts tourism. Some of the factors that strengthen the readiness of the three mentioned clusters are the establishment of a local community that is able to accommodate business networks and the readiness of local artisans and entrepreneurs in providing tourist services as part of economic activities. It apparently requires a long process of socialization, nevertheless, the local culture as the community’s potential is expected to encourage the readiness of the community.

Bank interest is equated with usury which both born differ in the time span, the different communities of the background, a different effect.
Therefore interest rates clearly differ from usury and should not be equated with riba. That is why people ignore the MUI fatwa in business transactions. Should the scholars 'move from positivistic Jurisprudence to understanding Sociological Jurisprudence positivistic Jurisprudence.Oleh Hence the scholars can use the legal pluralisme approach in defining legal meaning.
