Kota Tarakan memiliki angka prevalensi tertinggi kasus HIV AIDS (9,28%) di Provinsi Kalimantan Timur dimana kasus HIV (+) banyak ditemukan pada kelompok waria. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap perilaku seks waria kaitannya dengan penularan HIV/AIDS di Kota Tarakan. Jenis penelitian adalah explanatory research dengan pendekatan cross sectional dan sampel sebanyak 49 responden. Analisis data secara univariat, bivariat dan multivariate, sedangkan data kualitatif dianalisis dengan metode content analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya antara korelasi pengetahuan (p value=0.005), persepsi kerentanan (p value=0.036), persepsi manfaat (p value=0.004), persepsi hambatan (p value=0.037) dengan perubahan perilaku seks responden, dan variabel yang paling berpengaruh adalah pengetahuan.

the sexual behavior of transsexuals in Tarakan City; Tarakan City has the highest HIV/AIDS prevalence (9.28%) among the regencies/cities in East Kalimantan Province, that HIV (+) cases are found mainly in the transsexuals group. The objective of this research is to analyze the influencing factors on the sexual behayior of transsexuals in order to prevent of HIV/AIDS in Tarakan City. This is an explanatory research with the cross-sectional approach. The number of samples is 49 respondents. The data was analyzed by uni-variate, bi-variate, and multi-variate analysis. Meanwhile, the qualitative data analyzed by using the content analysis. From the research results, it was found that there were connections between the level of knowledge of HIV/AIDS (p value=0.005), perceived susceptibility (p value=0.036), perceived benefits (p value =0.004) and perceived barriers (p value=0.037) to the sexual behavior of transsexuals, and the most significantly influencing is the adequate knowledge of HIV/AIDS.
