PERANAN NELAYAN SEBAGAI PENJAGA “BERANDA NEGARA” MERUPAKAN BENTUK NASIONALISME

Abstract

This article tries to show that all social elements of Indonesian society have responsibility to manage, secure, and empower all potentials related to maritime country. It cannot be denied that the fishermen also has significant responsible in this matter. Many people traditionally describe fishermen as a community who always life in a poor condition. They are viewed as a social group without any strategic role in national life including in guarding the ocean territory. For this reason, this article tries to trace the role of the fishermen in guarding the state territory. Their role is very significant especially in the remote small islands against the negative intrusion of foreign elements. It shows that the fishermen have patriotic and nationalistic spirits.
