Abstract

Economic and financial crisis in 1988 should become a turning point or
momentum for Indonesia to push its agricultural sector. Based on the fact that
the majority of the people in the country still live on agriculture and its related
activities, various innovation in this sector should be strived to overcome the
crisis impacts that hit almost every sector. Agriculture could become a life saver
for many people. Therefore, the development of agribusiness should be seriously
implemented as an economic defense for the sake of the countrys economic
development. Agribusiness with its many patterns has a great potency to create
a tough Indonesian economical development. It needs a strong political will from
the government as the key role to achieve the development goals. There are
many strategies that could be used for it, such as human resource development,
financial aid program, partnership program, and commodity mapping, based on
regional assessment.
