PEMBERDAYAAN GURU BAHASA INGGRIS PADA SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEJURUAN RINTISAN SEKOLAH BERTARAF INTERNASIONAL (SMK-RSBI) DI INDONESIA
Abstract
The existence of international level of vocational schools is really needed to educate and prepare Indonesian human resources. The availability of competent English teachers is very essential. Nevertheless, it still becomes a very serious problem faced by those schools in Semarang. The purpose of the study is to identify the empowering of the English teachers at some teacher training institutions and vocational schools. Qualitative method with exploratory and explanatory was employed to conduct the study. The key informant was the leader of each institution. Observation, interview, document analysis were employed. Some policies and activities were held to empower the English teachers of those schools such as training, workshop, block grant. However, they were still partial and temporary. It is still required some more relevant and comprehensive models to empower them.
