Peer Review Process / Policy

All manuscripts submitted to this journal should follow focus and scope, and author guidelines of this journal. When a manuscript is submitted, it is given a submission ID number. Always refer to this number in communications with the editor. It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to inform the coauthors of the manuscript’s status throughout the review and publication processes.

All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents, Every article submitted will be checked for originality via Turnitin iThenticate. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking before submitting the draft. Editors check all manuscripts to see if there are any similarities with other articles. The Editor reviews the manuscript for scope and assigns reviewers. All manuscripts are considered to be confidential and undergo a blind review.

Furthermore, the Section Editor will designate a minimum of two (2) people as Peer Reviewer to review and assess the substance of eligibility of each text. Based on comments from Peer Reviewer, section editors and editors in chief will make decisions for the related manuscripts. The editorial team of JMASIF will do its best to ensure fairness, clarity, and transparency in the blind peer review process and editorial decisions.

 

Publication Frequency

JMASIF will be published twice a year in May and November.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal can be accessed freely (open access) by readers in the hope that it can provide more opportunities for a broader exchange of knowledge. Any manuscript that is published openly (free access) will be permanently available for all readers to read or download.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the PKP LOCKSS Network (PKP PN) system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

 

Publication Ethics and Allegation of Malpractice Statement

Jurnal Masyarakat Informatika (JMASIF) in accordance with COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is a critical building block in the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them. JMASIF is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice.

This statement outlines the ethical standards for all parties involved in the publishing process, including the authors, the editors, the peer reviewers, and the publisher (Department of Informatics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro), based on the Committee on Publication Ethics COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

1. Duties of Editors

1.1. Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published, guided by the quality, originality, and relevance of the work.

1.2. Fair Play

Manuscripts shall be evaluated based on their scientific content without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political beliefs.

1.3. Confidentiality

Editors must maintain confidentiality concerning all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or other editorial advisers.

1.4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author's express written consent.

2. Duties of Reviewers

2.1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

2.2. Promptness

Reviewers should notify the editors if they are unable to review a manuscript or can do so only with significant delay.

2.3. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with others without authorization.

2.4. Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and supported with clear arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

2.5. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify uncited relevant work and notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap with other published materials.

2.6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must not use privileged information for personal advantage and should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

3. Duties of Authors

3.1. Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate account of the work performed and provide sufficient detail to permit replication by others.

3.2. Data Access and Retention

Authors should be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review and retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

3.3. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their works are original and appropriately cite or quote others’ work.

3.4. Multiple or Redundant Publications

Authors should not publish the same research in more than one journal. Concurrent submissions are considered unethical.

3.5. Authorship of the Paper

Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.

3.6. Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others and cite all relevant publications.

3.7. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All financial and non-financial conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the manuscript.

3.8. Hazards and Human/Animal Subjects

Authors must clearly identify any hazards associated with the research and indicate appropriate ethical approvals when human or animal subjects are involved.

3.9. Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly inform the journal editor to retract or correct the paper.

4. Handling Allegations of Misconduct

JMASIF takes allegations of research misconduct seriously. Cases involving fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism will be investigated following COPE’s flowcharts and best practices.

The editorial board will:

  • Conduct an initial review of the allegation
  • Notify the corresponding author and request an explanation
  • Involve external experts if needed
  • Take corrective action, which may include rejection, retraction, or correction

Institutions affiliated with the authors may be contacted if necessary.

5. Publisher’s Responsibilities

The Department of Informatics, Universitas Diponegoro ensures that:

  • Commercial interests do not influence editorial decisions
  • Editors and authors are supported in handling ethical issues
  • Ethical standards are upheld at all stages of the publication process

6. Copyright and Licensing

The copyright policy of JMASIF is available on the Copyright Notice page. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication.

JMASIF allows authors to deposit versions of their work. All of published articles in JMASIF are deposited in SherpaRomeo repository

This journal charges the following author fees:

Article Submission: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors are no required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process.

Article Publication: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors don't need to pay some processing fees (free charges) for article publishing once their articles have been accepted.

Applying the CrossMark icon is a commitment by Jurnal Masyarakat Informatika to maintain the published content published and alert readers to changes if and when they occur.

What is Crossmark?

CrossMark, a multi-publisher initiative from CrossRef, provides a standard way for readers to locate the authoritative version of a document. Jurnal Teknologi dan Sistem Komputer recognizes the importance of the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record to researchers and librarians and attaches the highest importance to maintaining trust in the authority of its electronic archive. Clicking on the CrossMark icon will inform the reader of the document's current status and may also provide additional publication record information about the document.
