Peer Review Process / Policy

All manuscripts submitted to JMASIF must comply with the journal’s aims and scope, author guidelines, and publication ethics policies. Once a manuscript is submitted, it is assigned a unique submission ID number, which should be used in all correspondence with the editorial office. The corresponding author is responsible for communicating the manuscript’s status to all co-authors throughout the review and publication process.

All submitted manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism. Each submission is screened for similarity using Turnitin/iThenticate before being considered for peer review. Authors are strongly encouraged to check the similarity level of their manuscripts before submission. Editors will review all manuscripts to identify possible overlap with existing publications. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% may be returned for revision or rejected at the editor’s discretion.

After the initial screening, the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Associate Editor/Handling Editor evaluates the manuscript for relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, compliance with author guidelines, scientific quality, and ethical suitability. Manuscripts that do not meet these initial requirements may be rejected without external review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are assigned to a minimum of two (2) independent peer reviewers. JMASIF applies a single-blind peer review process, in which the reviewers know the identities of the authors, while the authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. All manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, and related materials are treated as confidential.

The peer reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, novelty, scientific significance, methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, relevance of evidence, and contribution to the field. Peer reviewers are selected based on their expertise, publication record, and relevance to the manuscript topic. Reviewers may be invited from the journal’s reviewer database, Editorial Board Members, or external experts. Regardless of their affiliation with the journal, all reviewers are required to provide objective, constructive, and confidential assessments. Based on the comments and recommendations from the peer reviewers, the Associate Editor or Handling Editor provides an editorial recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief.

The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief. Possible decisions include accept, minor revision, major revision, resubmit for review, or reject. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original peer reviewers or evaluated by the Associate Editor/Handling Editor, depending on the extent of revision required. The editorial team of JMASIF is committed to ensuring fairness, clarity, confidentiality, and transparency throughout the peer review and editorial decision-making process.

  2. Create false, misleading, or unverifiable references.
  3. Manipulate citations, references, or bibliometric information.
  4. Replace the authors’ own analysis, interpretation, discussion, or conclusions.
  5. Produce content that violates copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or ethical standards.
  6. Misrepresent authorship, research contribution, or the originality of the work.
  7. Generate peer review reports, editorial decisions, or reviewer recommendations without human assessment.

Any misuse of Generative AI may be treated as a violation of publication ethics and may result in manuscript rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the severity of the case.

4. Authorship and Accountability

Generative AI tools, chatbots, large language models, or other AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Authorship is limited to human contributors who meet authorship criteria and are able to take responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of the work.

All listed authors must be able to approve the final version of the manuscript and accept responsibility for all parts of the work, including any content produced with the assistance of AI tools.

5. Use of AI in Figures, Images, and Research Data

If AI tools are used to generate, modify, enhance, or process images, figures, diagrams, datasets, or other research materials, authors must clearly disclose this use. Authors must ensure that AI-assisted image processing does not distort, misrepresent, or manipulate the original data or research findings.

For research involving image analysis, data mining, machine learning, or AI-based methods as part of the scientific methodology, authors must describe the tools, models, datasets, parameters, and procedures used in sufficient detail to allow reproducibility.

6. Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Unpublished manuscripts, review reports, author responses, or editorial correspondence must not be uploaded to publicly available Generative AI tools or third-party AI platforms that do not guarantee confidentiality, data privacy, and non-retention of submitted content.

Reviewers may not rely on Generative AI tools as a substitute for their own expert judgment. Peer review reports must reflect the reviewer’s independent assessment of the manuscript.

Editors may use AI-assisted tools for limited administrative or technical purposes, such as plagiarism screening, language checking, or workflow support. However, editorial decisions must always be made by human editors based on scholarly merit, reviewer comments, journal policies, and publication ethics.

7. Editorial Screening and Ethical Handling

JMASIF may screen submitted manuscripts for possible unethical use of Generative AI, including fabricated references, inconsistent data, unusual writing patterns, plagiarism, image manipulation, or unsupported claims. The editorial team may request clarification from authors regarding the use of AI tools at any stage of the review or publication process.

If undisclosed or unethical AI use is suspected, the manuscript may be subject to further editorial investigation in accordance with publication ethics guidelines.

8. Final Responsibility

The use of Generative AI does not reduce the responsibility of authors, reviewers, or editors. Human accountability remains essential in all stages of scholarly publishing. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is accurate, original, transparent, ethically sound, and compliant with JMASIF publication policies.
