Author Guidelines

The journal of  Media Komunikasi Teknik Sipil (MKTS) was published for the first time in 1992 by Prof. Joetata Hadihardaja as the executive secretary of BMPTTSSI (Badan Musyawarah Perguruan Tinggi Teknik Sipil Seluruh Indonesia) with the number of p-ISSN 0854-1809. The journal of MKTS has been accredited with the accreditation number 118/DIKTI/KEP/2001 and 23a/DIKTI/KEP/2004. As a national journal which has already been accredited, in July 2017 was developed by an online system, with e-ISSN 2549-6778. The MKTS Journal uses the Open Journal System(OJS). Start from volume 23 MKTS change the template by adding DOI link for each paper. The journal has been indexed by several indexing machines, such as, Crossref, Google Schoolar, Portal Garuda, Sinta and Dimensions.

 

General Guidelines

  1. The article can be product of researches, scientific thoughts or case study, in civil engineering and isn’t formed by politics, commercialism, and subjectivity unsure.
  2. Author has to put high respect on scientific conduct by comprehensing the benefit and risk of the published article.
  3. All matters relating to the use of the software, quotations and copyrights, as well as the legal consequences made by the author, are entirely the responsibility of the author.
  4. Author is not allowed to do double manuscript submission into journal or any of publication medias simultaneously.
  5. Author is obligated to fill in a statement letter which explains that the article has not been published yet in any kind of journals or conferences/ seminar. The example of statement letter can be downloaded on the statement letter link or in the format of doc.

 

Writing Guidelines

  1. Published article is prepared by using template manuscripts submission.
  2. Download article template format from here
  3. Article can be written in English or Indonesian. Article written in Indonesian should be based on The Enhanced Indonesian Spelling System and the words used in the article should be referred to the normative language (referred to Indonesian dictionary), meanwhile for English, it needs to be checked by using spell checker (English-American).
  4. Manuscript Style & Format

    Title

    The title of the article is written briefly and clearly, and must correctly indicate the problem to be raised, does not allow for various interpretations, does not contain abbreviations of words that are not commonly used. State first the main idea of the new article followed by other explanations.

     

    Name of author co-authors (without title)

    The author's name (without an academic degree), and the author's affiliation address are centered on the first page under the article title. The distance between the lines between the title and the author's name is 1 space, while the distance between the author's affiliation address and the abstract title is 1 space. Keywords must be written below the abstract text for each language, separated by a semicolon with a word count of 3-5 words. Correspondence authors are marked with an asterisk and their email address is also written. If there is more than one author, write the names of the authors separated by a comma (,). If the author's name consists of two words, the first word of the author (first name) should not be abbreviated. If the author's name consists of only one word, write the actual name in one word, however in the online version (HTML) it will be written in two words containing the same name (repeated) for metadata indexation purposes. Correspondence authors are marked with an asterisk and their email address is also written.

     

    Abstract

    Please read all these information given in this template carefully before start typing. This is a author guidelines and article template of Media Komunikasi Teknik Sipil journal. Article should be started by Title of Article followed by Authors Name and Affiliation Address and abstract. This abstract section should be typed in Italic font and font size of 10 pt (italic) and number of words of 150-200. Special for the abstract section, please use single spacing should be used between lines in this article. The abstract should be typed in Indonesian and English. The abstract should be typed as concise as possible and should be composed of: problem statement, purpose, method, scientific finding results, and short conclusion. The abstract should only be typed in one paragraph and one-column format. 

     

    Keywords

    Three to five keywords (First characters of each word in capital/ uppercase letters), Italic

     

    Introduction

    The introduction contains (in order) general background, previous literature review (state of the art) as the basis for scientific novelty statements from articles, scientific novelty statements, and research problems or hypotheses. At the end of the introduction, the purpose of the study is written. The scientific article format should not have a literature review as in the research report, but be realized in the form of a previous literature review (state of the art) to show the scientific novelty of the article.

     

    Methods

    The method contains the main ingredients used in research and methods used in problem solving including analytical methods. The materials listed here are only the main ingredients. The equipment listed is only the main equipment equipped with the characteristics of the tool.

     

    Result and Discussion

    The results and discussion contain the results of research findings and scientific discussions. Write down scientific findings (scientific finding) obtained from the results of research that has been carried out but must be supported by adequate data. The scientific findings referred to here are not research data obtained. Scientific findings explain scientifically, and not only descriptively, including: What are the scientific findings obtained? Why did that happen? Why such a variable trend?

     

    Tables, figures and equations

    Tables and figures are placed in the text group after the table or figure is referenced (as close as possible). Images must be guaranteed to be printed clearly (font size, resolution and line size must be sure printed clearly). Each picture is given a picture title (Figure Caption) at the bottom of the picture and is numbered in Arabic numerals followed by the picture title.

    Tables may not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are allowed but only those that are essential. Each table must be given a table title (table caption) and numbered in Arabic numerals at the top of the table followed by the table title.

    Each equation is written aligned to the left margin of the column and is numbered written in brackets and placed at the end of the right margin. Equations must be written using the Equation Editor in MS Word or Open Office (Primack, 1983).

     

    References in the text of the article

    Every time taking data or citing statements from other libraries, the author must write down the source of the reference. References or citations are written in the description/text by means of the author's name and year (Irwan and Salim, 1998). If there are more than two authors, write only the name of the first author followed by “et al.” (Bezuidenhout et al., 2009; Roeva, 2012). Everything that is referenced in the text must be listed in the Bibliography section, and vice versa, everything that is written in the Bibliography must be referenced in the text (Wang et al., 2011).

     

    Conclusion

    Conclusions describe the answers to hypotheses and/or research objectives or scientific findings obtained. The conclusion does not contain a repetition of the results and discussion, but rather a summary of the findings as expected in the objectives or hypotheses. If necessary, at the end of the conclusion can also be written things that will be done related to the next idea of the research.

     

    Acknowledgment (opsional)

    Acknowledgments are especially addressed to research funders or donors. Thanks can also be conveyed to those who helped carry out the research.

     

    References

    All references referred to in the text of the article must be listed in the Bibliography section. The minimum number of references is 15 and those containing reference libraries originating from primary sources (scientific journals and amounting to a minimum of 80% of the total bibliography) were published in the last 10 (ten) years.

     

     

  5. The limitation of page is 8-12 pages.
  6. Reference in the narration and references have to be based on article template format.
  7. All pictures, graphics, and tables displayed have to follow script font-style and need to have good quality.
  8. Published article has to be free of misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism or autoplagiarism.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
