The findings show that the father character fulfills all three aspects, though availability appears less dominant due to his role as a single parent. The story, narrated from the child’s perspective, depicts a warm and affectionate relationship between father and child, emphasizing emotional closeness and everyday domestic involvement. The complementary relationship between words and pictures enhances the reader’s understanding of paternal responsibility and affection. Overall, this study highlights how modern Indonesian children’s literature reconstructs the image of fatherhood as nurturing, responsible, and emotionally present, contrasting traditional patriarchal depictions of fathers. Abstrak Penelitian ini membahas representasi figur ayah tunggal dalam buku cerita bergambar anak Ayahku Seorang Nelayan karya Zunda. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan studi pustaka, penelitian ini menganalisis unsur teks dan ilustrasi untuk mengungkap bagaimana buku tersebut merepresentasikan peran ayah. Kerangka teori yang digunakan adalah Paternal Behavior in Humans dari Lamb (2014), yang mencakup tiga aspek keterlibatan ayah: interaksi ( interaction ), ketersediaan ( availability ), dan tanggung jawab ( responsibility ). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Ayah dalam cerita memenuhi ketiga aspek tersebut, meskipun aspek ketersediaan tampak kurang dominan karena posisinya sebagai ayah tunggal. Cerita yang dinarasikan dari sudut pandang anak menggambarkan hubungan hangat dan penuh kasih antara ayah dan anak; menonjolkan kedekatan emosional dan keterlibatan domestik sehari-hari. Hubungan kata dan gambar yang saling melengkapi serta memperkuat makna tanggung jawab dan kasih sayang ayah. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sastra anak Indonesia modern membangun ulang citra ayah sebagai sosok yang penyayang, bertanggung jawab, dan hadir secara emosional, berbeda dari citra ayah patriarkal yang tradisional.
