Abstract

Micro hydro power plant (MHPP) utilizes water as primary renewable energy resource. Electrical power generated by this power plant is fluctuated and it depends on the season when water reserve is sufficient to turn turbine as the prime mover of micro hydro power plant. The power generated by MHPP is very risky when it is directly sold to consumers. To overcome the problem above, the power generated by MHPPP should be merged with the other electrical source such as fixed grid provided by Electrical Company. This merger is expected to guarantee that the needs of consumers can be continued. In merging the electrical power of scattered small power plants and with PLN, it is necessary to analyze the power generated by MHPP in order the power can be absorbed into the fixed grid. In this paper the analysis was performed by using Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP-7). The result of ETAP analysis shows that if the connecting point  is carried out in Substation Boja, then the generated power from MHPP Karangtalun can be absorbed into the grid up to 97.88%. How ever this efficiency still excludes the cost of investment to build a line transmission 20 kV three phase along 26 km. The next alternative is to connect the power distribution network which is close to the power house of MHPP at pole point B6-500. The analysis of this connecting point showed that 49.56% of power can be absorbed into the grid. The analysis on the other connecting point namely the pole B6-389 and B6-312 pole, shows the absorbed power is 63.84% and 80.12 % consecutively.
