The program has established a thesis writing guideline for its students. However, an increasing number of thesis proposals are proving difficult for assigned reviewers to comprehend promptly in terms of their substantive content. This difficulty arises because students fail to apply standard Indonesian grammar, current orthographic conventions, and writing formats as prescribed by the program. Findings from prior research, combined with observational results, indicate that prolonged habits of communicating through social media have caused students to become largely unfamiliar with standard Indonesian grammar. Students therefore require structured training to address this issue. The training employed the following methods: observation, literature review, lectures, discussion, and practical exercises. Training outcomes revealed that participants began to recognize errors they had been making in completing coursework in the form of academic papers, and reported gaining meaningful insight from the training materials. Recommendations for program administrators: this training should be introduced to Bachelor of History students from the earliest semesters, so that they develop proper academic writing habits from the outset. Recommendations for students: students must make a concerted effort to complete all academic assignments in accordance with standard Indonesian grammar, current spelling conventions, and the writing format stipulated by the program.
