Modifikasi Membran Polyethersulfone (PES) dengan PVA dan Selulosa untuk Peningkatan Hidrofilisitas dan Kinerja Antifouling

Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji modifikasi membran polyethersulfone (PES) dengan penambahan polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) dan selulosa dari daun pandan laut (Pandanus tectorius) untuk meningkatkan hidrofilisitas, permeabilitas, dan ketahanan fouling. Selulosa diperoleh melalui delignifikasi, pemutihan, dan hidrolisis asam, lalu dikarakterisasi dengan FTIR. Membran dibuat menggunakan metode Non-solvent Induced Phase Separation (NIPS) dengan 1% b/b PVA dan variasi selulosa 0–2% b/b, serta diuji menggunakan FTIR, SEM, WCA, porositas, dan filtrasi asam humat 50 ppm pada sistem dead-end. Penambahan PVA dan selulosa meningkatkan porositas dari 55,59% menjadi 80,18% dan menurunkan WCA dari 69,33° menjadi 45,31°, sehingga fluks air murni naik dari 26,16 menjadi 44,82 L/m²·jam pada MPS2 (1% PVA, 2% selulosa). Namun, rejeksi asam humat menurun dari 71,32% menjadi 57,06%, menunjukkan trade-off antara fluks dan selektivitas. MPS2 juga menunjukkan FRR tertinggi 95,51% dengan Fouling total (Rt), Fouling reversible (Rr) dan Fouling irreversible (Rir) masing-masing sebesar 29,79%, 25,31%, dan 4,48%, yang mengindikasikan dominasi fouling reversibel. Peningkatan antifouling dikaitkan dengan gugus –OH yang meningkatkan hidrofilisitas dan mengurangi interaksi polutan dengan membran. Secara keseluruhan, kombinasi PVA dan selulosa berpotensi meningkatkan kinerja membran PES, namun diperlukan pengujian lanjutan pada air limbah nyata dan operasi jangka panjang untuk evaluasi lebih komprehensif.
