Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology (fintech) has transformed lending services, particularly for microenterprises. As a peer-to-peer lending platform, PT Amartha Mikro Fintek relies on an effective financing eligibility assessment. However, operational challenges remain, such as repetitive document verification, field data synchronization delays due to unstable internet connectivity in rural areas, and manual validation bottlenecks. This study analyzes and improves the financing eligibility assessment process using Business Process Improvement (BPI). Employing a qualitative case study, the existing business process (As-Is) was modeled using BPMN 2.0, evaluated via Issue Register and Value-Added Analysis, and redesigned into a proposed model (To-Be). The improvements incorporate process simplification, task elimination, task automation, and integral technology specifically offline synchronization and automated credit scoring pre-validation. Simulation results indicate that the To-Be model is projected to reduce process cycle time by 79–84% (from ±285 minutes to 45–60 minutes) and significantly minimize bottlenecks. Importantly, automation focuses on redundant administrative checks, ensuring core credit-risk controls are preserved through analyst review of high-risk cases. This study provides projected estimates for operational efficiency in fintech microfinance while extending BPI literature in rural lending operations.
