Abstract

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) adalah sebuah standar layanan pesan telepon yang memungkinkan untuk mengirim pesan yang mengandung objek multimedia, seperti gambar, audio, video, dan rich text. Dalam proses pengirimannya, pesan yang dikirim dapat dilihat oleh penyedia layanan MMS. Apabila penerima MMS tidak memiliki fasilitas MMS maka pesan dapat diakses di Uniform Resource Locator (URL), sehingga siapa saja bisa mengakses URL tersebut. Keamanan dan kerahasiaan pesan tidak dapat terpenuhi dalam proses pengiriman MMS. Untuk memenuhi aspek kerahasiaan dan keamanan pesan yang dikirimkan, diperlukan aplikasi yang menerapkan teknik kriptografi, sehingga pesan yang dikirim hanya bisa dibaca atau dilihat oleh orang yang memiliki otoritas untuk membaca pesan tersebut. Aplikasi Secure Multimedia Messaging Service (SMMS) dibangun untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, dengan menggunakan algoritma RC6. Aplikasi ini dibangun menggunakan teknologi Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) yang dapat diimplementasikan pada telepon selular. Penerapan algoritma RC6 pada proses pengiriman MMS pada telepon selular dapat menjaga keamanan dan kerahasiaan pesan yang dikirim, selain itu waktu yang digunakan untuk proses enkripsi dan dekripsi relatip kecil
