Abstract

This research aims to determine the perceptions of students from the Japanese Language Education Study Program at Ganesha Education University regarding the internship program in Japan which has been regularly held by the Japanese Language Education Study program since 2021 through a cooperative relationship between the study program with Vessel Cooperation and Kowa Cooperation. The internship program was carried out by students in the 4th semester and 6th semester as an internship for six months at the Nikko Alivila Hotel in the Okinawa Region, Japan. This research was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods. Data collection was carried out by questionnaires distributed to active students in semesters 4th and 6th. In-depth interviews as data collection will be carried out using random sampling techniques to research subjects, in this case, students, to obtain confirmation of the contents of their questionnaires. This study used simple statistics as data analysis. The research result was that 93% of the perception research subjects about this program were finely good in all aspects. The remaining 7% said that the other things related to the selection process, the type of company chosen for the internship location, pocket money, and the program duration still needed to be studied further. The conclusion from this study is there was a very significant correlation between the internship program and the improvement in Japanese language skills of students who had the opportunity to do an internship in Japan, apart from that, students' soft skills were also honed by participating in this program.
