Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membuat peta genangan rob serta menganalisa karakteristik tanah dan kecepatan rembesan dari genangan rob ke dalam tanah di wilayah pesisir Sayung, Kabupaten Demak. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus – Desember 2003 dengan mengambil lokasi di wilayah pesisir Sayung, Kabupaten Demak, Jawa Tengah. Metode penelitian adalah metode diskriptif, sedangkan metode samplingnya menggunakan metode sampling purposive. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga tahapan kerja, yang meliputi tahap pra kerja lapangan (studi pustaka, survei pengenalan medan, pengumpulan data sekunder, dan pengolahan peta), tahap kerja lapangan (pengukuran morfologi, pengambilan sampel tanah dan melakukan pengukuran permeabilitas tanah, serta pendokumentasian genangan rob), dan tahap pasca lapangan (analisa permeabilitas tanah dan ukuran butir). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, wilayah di pesisir Sayung dengan elevasi kurang dari 0,5 meter dpl akan terkena genangan rob pada saat pasang tertinggi. Di dalam peta kontur, daerah bebas genangan rob dapat terlihat jelas. Bangunan jalan raya Semarang - Demak yang melalui wilayah pesisir Sayung (Sriwulan, Purwosari, Sayung, Sidogemal dan Surodadi) dengan elevasi 2 meter, serta bantaran (tanggul) sungai yang berada di sisi kanan kiri sungai dengan elevasi lebih dari 0,5 meter, sehingga tidak terjangkau oleh air laut saat pasang tertinggi. Area pertambakan di Sriwulan dan Timbulsloko tersusun oleh tanah lanau lempungan pasiran dan lempung lanauan pasiran dengan permeabilitas (K) yaitu 4.268 x 10-5 – 5.161 x 10-5 m/hari. Area persawahan di Purwosari, Gemulak dan Sirodadi kriteria tanah didominasi oleh lanau pasiran lempungan dan lanau lempungan pasiran dengan kecepatan rembasan 2.728 x 10-5 – 5.242 x 10-5 m/hari. Sedangkan di area pemukiman Bedono, Sayung dan Sidogemal didominasi oleh pasir lanauan lempungan, dengan permeabilitas 0,015 m/hari – 0,132 m/hari maka tidak terjadi genangan rob yang lama. Kata kunci : Morfologi, rob, dan permeabilitas tanah. Phenomenon at rob interconected sea level tide, because that floods which caused by high water of sea where sea water mass step into continent as well as causing intrution land then contaminating ground water. Pond area of rob at the highest sea level will mount and exted to continent as according to ground elevation. Mapping of rob area whith coastal regional morphology study at Sayung will become an important information and very assisting in the effort handling at problem of rob in the region. The aims of this research are make a map of topography contour, map of rob, and also analyse ground characteristic and speed of rob’s pond perasity into ground in coastal region of Sayung, residence of Demak. Research executed in August – November 2003, by taking research location in coastal region of Sayung, residence of Demak, Central Java. The research used was descriptive method, while its sampling method use sampling purposive. Execution of this research is conducted in three activity steps, covering: pre phase work field (book study, recognize survey, secundary data collecting, and processing of map), phase work field (intake of ground sample, morphology measuring, permeability measuring and intake document of rob), and phase in the end of work field (permeability analysis and granulometry). Based to result of research, regional in coastal area Sayung with elevation less than 0,5 metre will be affected pond of rob in the highest tide. In the contour map, area which free from pond of rob can visible plain, that’s at roadway of Semarang – Demak which passing coastal area of Sayung (Sriwulan, Purwosari, Sayung, Sidogemah and Surodadi) with elevation 2 metre, the natural bank in right and left of the river with elevation 0,5 – 2 metre, and also some region which reclamated with height more than 0,5 metre out of reach from highest tide. Shrimppond area in Sriwulan and at Timbul Sloko have ground criterion of sandy clayes silt and of sandy silty clay with speed of low porasity that is 4.268 x 10-5 – 5.161 x 10-5 m/day. Ground criterion at rice field area in Purwosari, Gemulak and Surodadi, predominated by clayes sandy silt and of sandy clayes silt with speed of porasity 2.728 x 10-5 – 5.242 x 10-5 m/day. Settlement area in Bedono, Sayung and of Sidogemah predominated by clayes silty sand, so that pond of rob can seep quicker to the ground if compared to rice field area and shrimppond area that is 0.015 m/day – 0.132 m/day.
