Respons Nilai BOD₅ Terhadap Bioaugmentasi Pseudomonas aeruginosa dan Bacillus subtilis, Penambahan Molase, serta Kombinasi P. aeruginosa–molase pada Limbah Cair Industri Farmasi

Abstract

Limbah cair industri farmasi mengandung bahan organik yang dapat meningkatkan kebutuhan oksigen biologis dan berpotensi menurunkan kualitas lingkungan perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi respons Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD₅) terhadap bioaugmentasi Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, penambahan molase, serta kombinasi P. aeruginosa dan molase pada limbah cair industri farmasi. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan sampel limbah dari outlet IPAL industri farmasi yang diambil pada minggu berbeda untuk setiap tahap pengujian. Bioaugmentasi dilakukan pada konsentrasi 0,25; 0,50; dan 1,00 McFarland, sedangkan molase diberikan pada konsentrasi 0,50; 1,00; dan 2,00 g/L. Perlakuan kombinasi menggunakan P. aeruginosa 0,50 McFarland dengan molase 0,25 dan 0,50 g/L. BOD₅ diukur menggunakan metode Winkler dan dianalisis menggunakan One-Way ANOVA serta uji LSD pada taraf 5%. P. aeruginosa menghasilkan BOD₅ lebih rendah dibandingkan kontrol, tetapi ketiga konsentrasi inokulum tidak berbeda nyata. Sebaliknya, B. subtilis dan molase secara tunggal menghasilkan BOD₅ lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol. Perlakuan kombinasi menghasilkan BOD₅ lebih rendah dibandingkan kontrol, sedangkan kedua konsentrasi molase tidak berbeda nyata. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa respons BOD₅ berbeda bergantung pada jenis perlakuan dan kondisi pengujian, sehingga penerapan bioaugmentasi perlu mempertimbangkan karakteristik limbah dan kondisi operasional pengolahan.
