Peer Review Process / Policy

A double-blind peer-review process is applied, and at least two reviewers are assigned to each submitted manuscript. Authors are allowed to propose potential reviewers by providing their names and email addresses; however, the final decision remains with the editor. Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection software to check the similarity of their manuscripts prior to submission. Similarity screening is conducted using Turnitin, and editorial decisions are based on the level of similarity with other published works. The editor may decide to reject the manuscript outright, request further clarification from the authors, or proceed with the peer-review process. The final decision is made by the editorial team.

Publication Frequency

JPKI is scheduled for publication in January, April, July, October  (4 issues a year).

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

JPKI (e-ISSN 2620-4053; p-ISSN 1907-2937) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Master’s Program in Health Promotion, Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication of articles in this journal, including the authors, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, the peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in the peer-reviewed JPKI is an essential component in the development of a coherent and respected body of scholarly knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed publications support and uphold the scientific method. Therefore, it is essential to establish and agree upon standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, the publisher, and the society.

Master Program of Health Promotion Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University as the publisher of the JPKI, takes its responsibilities for guardianship over all stages of the publishing process very seriously and recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities. The publisher is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenues have no influence on editorial decisions. In addition, the Master’s Program in Health Promotion, Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University, and the Editorial Board will assist in communication with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication decisions

The editor of the JPKI is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. Such decisions must be driven by the validity of the work and its importance to researchers and readers. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal’s Editorial Board and constrained by applicable legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor may also consult with other editors or peer reviewers in making publication decisions.

Fair play

An editor shall at all times evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content, without regard to the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with the author, may also assist the author in improving the manuscript.

Promptness

Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript, or who knows that a timely review will be impossible, should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly and support them with reasoned arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the appropriate citation. Reviewers should also draw the editor’s attention to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published work of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed, along with an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be accurately represented in the manuscript. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to enable others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data related to a manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, where practicable, in accordance with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases. Authors should, in any event, be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should ensure that their work is entirely original. If the work and/or words of others have been used, these must be appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundantn or Concurrent Publication

An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in shaping the reported work.

Authorship of the Manuscript

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have contributed to specific substantive aspects of the research should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors, and no inappropriate co-authors, are included in the manuscript, and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the work involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment with unusual hazards, the authors must clearly identify these hazards in the manuscript.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that could be perceived as influencing the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research must be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the manuscript.
