Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR THE AUTHORS

Authors are invited to submit for publication scientific articles reporting original work which is relevant to health promotion issues and health behavior-related sciences. The author should use the manuscript template provided by JPKI. Writing guidelines and templates can be downloaded at this link: JPKI Template (since Volume 12 No 1 Year 2017).

General Guidelines

  1. Manuscripts must be submitted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and are not previously under consideration by another journal. By virtue of the submitted manuscript, the corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the article’s publication has been approved by all the other co-authors. It is also the author’s responsibility to ensure that the articles emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the necessary institution. 
  2. Manuscripts should be submitted via online system and should be written clearly and concisely in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document Files.
  3. Author publishing results from in vivo experiments involving animals or humans should state whether due permission for conduction of these experiments was obtained from relevant ethics committees, in materials and methods section. In addition, authors wishing to publish research work involving human studies should also send a verified letter of approval from Ethics Committee or the Institutional Review Board.
  4. Manuscripts including tables, figure legends and references must be typewritten with times new roman style, font size 11 pt, 1.15 spaced on (21.5 x 28 cm) size A4 paper, with margins of 2.5 cm on top and bottom side, 1.5 cm on the right and left side of page, the number of words is 3.000-4.000. Pages should be numbered consecutively, without footnote. The manuscript should be presented clearly and concisely in English language. 
  5. Articles to be published are submitted through the online system and will be checked by editors in terms of writing format, content compliance with the scope of the journal, plagiarism test through Turnitin soft-ware and the completeness of the letter passing ethical test by the Ethical Commission Board. Articles that meet these requirements will then be processed blind review by at least 2 peer reviewers relevant to the topic of the article
  6. Articles that do not meet these requirements will not be processed, will be informed to the author via email.

 

Organizing of Manuscript

Title page
A title is center, bold, times new roman 16 pt, maximal 14 words, and no acronym.
Write down the correct names of each author, each author’s official academic and affiliations, name and address of the institution(s), and E-mail address of the corresponding author. If the authors come from different institutions, they should be numbered at each end of the name and each mark is given the name of the author's institution. It is left alignment, single-spaced, times new roman 11 pt.

Abstract
Abstract is written in English and no more than 300 words. Although it is not structured, but it should contain the following: background/introduction, method, and results. The abstract should be precise with enough information for the reader to understand the main points highlighted in the paper without reading the whole article. Key words should be provided bellow the abstract, and select 3-5 key words or short phrases that describe the article for indexing purposes.

Introduction
The introduction should indicate the reason for the work and include essential research problems and research objectives

Method
Method should contain the description of research design, time and place, sampling method, research variables, data collection and analysis.

Result and Disussion
The section should contain the main results of the research and should be written in narrative, table or chart and figure. Number tables consecutively in the order of their first citation in the text and supply a brief title for each. The title of table should be written above the table, maximum table 6. All figures must be numbered as cited in the text in consecutive numeric order beneath the figure, maximum figure 6. Discussion should not re-write of the result. This section is contained an analysis, argumentation, the opinion of researcher, and the comparison with other research findings which have been published and contributed to science and technology.

Conclusion
Conclusion is contained a short statement about the result of the study in order to answer the research question(s) and objective(s).

Acknowledgement
Acknowledgments are written at the end of the article before the references and can be addressed to those who have assisted in the research both individually and non-individuals (organizations, sponsors, etc.) not mentioned as research members. The research funder can be written in this section without mentioning the amount of funds.

References
Article should use reference manager (Mendeley) by Vancouver style. References should be numbered in order of appearance and indicated by a numeral or numerals with bracket. Only references cited in text should be listed at the end of the paper. The minimum of references are 25. The references should 80% of total cited from journal and 80% taken from the last 10 years. 

Conflict of Interest
Conflicts of interest may arise in a researcher, a reviewer, or an editor who has a personal or financial conflict that may affect the final decision process of the publication. Articles must be declared that there is no potential conflict of interest in terms of finances or other matters.

Author Fees
Article submission free. Article processing charge (APCs): 1,000,000.00 (IDR). This includes editing, publishing, maintaining and archiving, and allows immediate access to full-text versions of the articles.

 

Guideline for Online Submission

 

Author should first register as Author and/or is offered as Reviewer through the following address: click here

Author should fulfill the form as detailed as possible (including all authors' name, institution and mobile phone number) where the star marked form must be entered. After all form of textbox was filled, Author clicks on “Register” button to proceed the registration. Therefore, Author is brought to online author submission interface where Author should click on “New Submission”. In the Start of a New Submission section, click on “’Click Here’: to go to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of journal, i.e. Original Research Articles, Review Article, or Short Communication. Thus, the author must check-mark on the submission checklists. Author may type or copy-paste Covering Letter in Letter to Editor.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) to be submitted, then click "Upload" button until the file has been uploaded.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detail authors metadata should be entered including marked corresponding author. After that, manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords.
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary file should be uploaded including Covering/Submission Letter. Therefore, click on Browse button, choose the files, and then click on Upload button.
  5. Step 5 – Confirming the Submission:  Author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to JPKI, click Finish Submission button after the document is true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email and will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging into the journal web address site.

After this submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors are able to track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of manuscript review and editorial process.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is 1.15 space; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
