Untuk mengimbangi tingkat permintaan sumber energi yang ada, terutama minyak bumi, salah satu bahan bakar alternatif yang dibutuhkan adalah etanol. Namun, dengan adanya peralihan menggunakan bahan bakar alternatif tersebut menyebabkan kebutuhan alkohol di beberapa negara meningkat sehingga perlu pemanfaatan alkohol seefektif mungkin. Ciu Bekonang merupakan minuman tradisional khas Solo dari fermentasi tetes tebu yang mempunyai kadar alkohol masih rendah, yaitu ±30% yang selama ini belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik dan hanya digunakan sebagai minuman keras. Penelitian yang dilakukan akan mengkaji pengkayaan alkohol dari Ciu Bekonang secara destilasi adsorptif menggunakan zeolit alam dan silika gel sebagai adsorben. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa destilasi adsorptif menggunakan zeolit alam dan silika gel sebagai adsorben mampu meningkatkan kadar etanol dari Ciu Bekonang, diperoleh kemurnian etanol tertinggi dengan zeolit alam dan silika gel berturut-turut adalah 76% dan 91,61%.
