The study aims to identify patterns of adaptation in translating Indonesian utterances into English and analyze their implications for translation equivalence. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive-comparative methods. The results reveal three categories: substitution, letter repetition, and orthographic or stylistic retention. Substitution involves marked target spellings that may correspond to sound-related features and reproduce aspects of the source expressions marked linguistic style, while letter repetition may represent emphasis, affect, or possible sound-related lengthening through written repetition. Orthographic or stylistic retention preserves source forms with cultural, expressive, stylistic, or digital writing functions. These findings suggest that preserving marked forms may help maintain communicative and stylistic effects that could be reduced through normalization, although the data do not establish a consistent prioritization of pragmatic equivalence. Thus, adaptation in the selected data involves the negotiation of linguistic, stylistic, cultural, and pragmatic features across languages, while reflecting language contact and digital multilingual practices in K-Pop fan communities . }, issn = {23380683}, pages = {77--90} doi = {10.14710/parole.v16i2.77-90}, url = {https://ejournal.undip.ac.id/index.php/parole/article/view/86218} }
