Molase merupakan limbah pabrik gula yang mengandung karbohidrat, bernilai ekonomis rendah dan melalui proses fermentasi menghasilkan alcohol. Dengan memvariasikan kondisi operasi antara lain lama fermentasi, tingkat keasaman (pH) dan konsentrasi molase sebagai media fermentasi, diamati kualitas dan kuantitas butanol yang dihasilkan dengan penambahan nutrisi berupa urea ataupun piridoxin sebanyak 2 ppm.
