Pemanfaatan Buku Elektronik (E-Book) oleh Generasi Milenial Selama Pasca Pandemi di UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya

Abstract

Buku elektronik (e-book) merupakan salah satu referensi yang tidak terbatas pada ruang dan waktu. Hal ini merupakan alasan mengapa e-book menjadi salah satu layanan yang ditingkatkan oleh perpustakaan ketika pandemi berlangsung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran generasi milenial dalam memanfaatkan e-book setelah masa pandemi dinyatakan berakhir. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu propotional stratified random sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 100 responden. Sementara kriteria responden pada penelitian ini yaitu dosen dan mahasiswa pascasarjana UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya yang lahir pada tahun 1980-1999. Adapun kerangka model yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Reason-Interaction-Results yang digagas oleh Tefko Saracvic dan Paul B. Kantor. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alasan generasi milenial memanfaatkan e-book yaitu adanya dorongan kebutuhan informasi, khususnya untuk penelitian, tugas akhir ataupun menyusun materi perkuliahan. Generasi milenial menilai layanan e-book yang tersedia dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya meskipun frekuensi pemanfaatan e-book tergolong rendah. Selain masih terdapat beberapa hal yang perlu ditingkatkan dari layanan e-book seperti pemilihan subjek e-book yang dilanggan, koneksi internet, jumlah komputer, printer dan intensitas pelatihan, pelatihan yang bekerjasama dengan program studi dan yang tak kalah penting yaitu menyediakan tampilan antarmuka e-book yang ramah pengguna.
