The result indicates that there are lexical items different from those of the standard Buginese language but have similarities with Konjo language. Dalam makalah ini dibahas mengenai inovasi dalam bahasa Bugis dialek Sinjai. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa terdapat 6 fonem vokal dan 21 fonem konsonan dalam bahasa Bugis dialek Sinjai. Ditemukan juga dua jenis variasi fonologis, yaitu variasi fonem vokal: [e] ~ [i], [a] ~ [i], [o] ~ [u], [a] ~ [|], dan [o] ~ [|], serta variasi konsonan: [k] ~ [g], dan [w] ~ [h]. Variasi leksikal yang ditemukan meliputi beberapa gejala kebahasaan, yaitu: onomasiologis, aferesis, sinkope, epentesis, protesis, dan metatesis.
