Abstract

Barramundi has a relatively high economic value, but the issue of expensive feed is impeding aquaculture development. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanni) leaf extract is one of the substances used to boost growth rate as well as feed efficiency. The current study explored the effect of the addition of different doses of cinnamon leaf extract to fish feed on the growth rate and feed efficiency of barramundi. The sample was barramundi with a size of 5 cm. This experimental design used CRD (Completely Randomized Design). It involved 4 treatments and 3 replications with the addition of cinnamon leaf extract of 0 grams/100 grams of feed (A), 0.5 grams/100 grams of feed (B), 1 gram/100 gram feed (C), and 1.5 gram/100 gram feed (D). The observations were carried out for 21 days. The results showed that the addition of cinnamon leaf extract of 1 gram/100 grams of feed resulted in a higher average absolute biomass growth of 1.12 grams, feed utilization efficiency of 96%, and survival rate of 100%. During the study, the water quality was within the range that supports growth with a salinity of 25–33 ppt, the temperature of 27–30oC, pH of 7, and dissolved oxygen of 3–6 mg/l.
