Permasalahan yang dihadapi di daerah pantai utara adalah bagaimana mengetahui perubahan garis pantai, proses yang terjadi dan mengapa terjadi perubahan garis pantai. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah interpretasi citra satelit Landsat tahun 1989 tahun 1994, tahun 1999, tahun 2004 dan citra Landsat tahun 2009, dan pengujian lapangan. Dengan menumpang susunkan ke lima citra satelit melalui sistem informasi geografis merupakan cara cepat untuk mengetahui perubahan yang terjadi di pantai utara Semarang. Garis pantai yang terjadi antara tahun 1989 sampai tahun 2009 lebih banyak mengalami proses abrasi jika dibandingkann dengan akresi. Abrasi yang terjadi sebesar 2086.1 ha, sedangkan akresi sebesar 1221.6 ha. Proses abrasi terjadi akibat adanya arus laut dan ombak laut yang terus menerus menghantam bibir pantai serta adanya pantai yang relatif datar. Sedangkan akresi disebabkan penumpukan sedimen yang berasal dari daratan terendapkan di pantai terutama melalui muara sungai. Untuk mengurangi dampak perubahan garis pantai sebaiknya masyarakat ikut menjaga dengan mencegah adanya abrasi pantai. Cara yang dapat dilakukan dengan penghijauan kawasan pantai, dengan penanaman mangrove ditepi pantai dan mengurangi penggunaan lahan di hulu untuk mengurangi bukaan lahan. Kata kunci : Dinamika garispantai, penginderaan jauh ,SIG Northcoast of Semarang had been underwas of changes from year to year. This kind of serious coastel changes will need necessary to do a continuous monitoring. Problems of the northern coastal area of java is to find out how the changes of coastline, the process and why there is a change of coastline. Research method used was analysis of Landsat satellite images of 1989 1994, 1999, 2004 and the 2009, and field testing. Then followed by overlay of the five satellite images through a geographical information system is a quick way to find out the changes that occur in the northern coast of Semarang. Changes of coastal line that occurred between 1989 to 2009 experienced more erosion process if dibandingkann by accretion. Erosion that occurs at 2086.1 ha, while the accretion of 1221.6 ha. Based on the research can be drawn a conclusion that is stelit Landsat imagery can be used to determine changes in the coastline north Semarang. Coastal erosion had been occurs as a result of ocean currents and sea waves continued to hit the beach and the beaches are relatively flat. While the accretion on the beach caused by the buildup of sediments derived from land and deposited on the beach, especially through the mouth of the river. Suggestions to redus the impact of changes in the shoreline community should care for the beach to prevent erosion. The application of an ecosystem based coastal management such as planting mangroves on the beach and reduce the use of land in the upstream to reduce the aperture area.
