Selat Lifamatola merupakan salah satu jalurbagian timur Arlindo yang memiliki sill di kedalaman sekitar 1940 m. Data yang digunakan adalah kecepatan arus yang diperoleh dari mooring INSTANTpadaperioda waktu 2004-2006dan data IOS. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode low pass filter, analisis spektral, dan korelasi silang. Kecepatan arus di Selat Lifamatola pada kedalaman 1000-1300 m dominan ke arah baratlaut, sedangkan pada kedalaman 1400-2000 m ke tenggara yang merepresentasikan Arlindo. Hasil studi memperlihatkan adanya korelasi antara kecepatan arus (transpor Arlindo) di Selat Lifamatola dengan fenomena ENSO, yaitu adanya pelemahan/penguatan transpor Arlindo ke arah tenggara yang berkaitan dengan fenomena El Nino/La Nina. Nilai korelasi silang kecepatan arus dan data IOS adalah r(2-7)=0,3718-0,7040pada kedalaman 1000-1500m dengan time lag antara 2-7 bulan dan pada kedalaman 1600-2000m diperoleh nilai korelasi r(-11) = 0,5022-0,5538 dengan time lag 11 bulan.
