Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang peran adsorben selulosa tongkol jagung (Zea mays) dengan polivinil alkohol (PVA) untuk penyerapan ion logam timbal (Pb²⁺). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat dan mengkarakterisasi adsorben tongkol jagung (TJ) dan tongkol jagung-PVA (TJ-PVA) serta menentukan kemampuan adsorben terhadap penyerapan logam Pb²⁺. Tahapan penelitian ini meliputi pembuatan, karakterisasi adsorben TJ dan TJ-PVA serta penentuan kemampuan menyerapan ion Pb²⁺ pada variasi waktu kontak 10-150 menit, konsentrasi 5-20 ppm, dan pH 1-6. Karakterisasi dengan FTIR menunjukkan adanya gugus utama selulosa yaitu OH. Hasil GSA menunjukkan adanya kenaikkan luas permukaan sebesar 21,57%, penurunan diameter pori rata-rata sebesar 68% dan penurunan volume pori total sebesar 60,30%. Adsorpsi Pb²⁺terbaik oleh adsorben TJ diperoleh pada waktu kontak 90 menit, konsentrasi 5,79 ppm dengan Pb²⁺ teradsorpsi sebesar 83,37%, dan pH 5. Sedangkan untuk adsorben TJ-PVA, adsorpsi terbaik terjadi pada waktu kontak 60 menit, konsentrasi 5,79 ppm dengan Pb²⁺ teradsorpsi 66,88%, dan pH 5. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa adsorben TJ-PVA dapat digunakan sebagai adsorben ion logam.
