Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of jackfruit seed strach-based bioplastic coating on the characteristic of acetylated sorghum starch-based biofoam. The biofoam was produced using acetylated sorghum starch as the main material and jackfruit seed starch bioplastic as a coating, with coating starch masses of 5, .5, 10, and 12,5 grams, along with CMC and sorbitol as additives. The Fabrication process was carried out using the thermopressing method at 125°C for 15 minutes. Characterization included density testing, water absorption, compressive strength, biodegradability, functional group analysis using FTIR, and morphology observation using SEM. Based on the sample analysis result, the variation that meets the EPS Industry standard is achieved at 7.5 grams of coating srarch, with a density of 0.450 g/cm³, water absorption of 10.84%, compressive strength of .0748 MPa, and a biodegradability rate of 64.82% over 14 days.
