Metode yang digunakan untuk membuat kitosan-tripolifosfat adalah metode gelasi ionik. Adsorben yang dihasilkan selanjutnya dikarakterisasi menggunakan spektroskopi Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keadaan optimum adsorpsi kitosan-tripolifosfat terhadap ion logam Ni(II) adalah pada waktu kontak lima jam dan pH=5.
