Luas permukaan dan pori zeolit sering dimanfaatkan untuk mengadsorp adsorbat. Dalam efektifitasnya sebagai adsorben, situs asam dan permukaan zeolit alam dapat dimodifikasi dengan ligan EDTA (etilendiamintetraasetat/ ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid). Dengan ligan EDTA diharapkan zeolit menjadi lebih selektif dalam mengadsopsi ion logam Pb2+. Pada penelitian ini zeolit alam (ZA) dimodifikasi dengan ligan EDTA pada variasi konsentrasi yaitu 0,20 M, 0,15 M, 0,10 M dan 0,05 M. Selanjutnya digunakan untuk mengadsorpsi ion logam Pb2+ dan Cd2+ dengan variasi: (i) ukuran partikel ZA 212 pm, 125 pm, dan 90 pm, (ii) rasio adsorbat/adsorben pada 20 mL/g, 30 mL/g, 40 mL/g dan 50 mL/g. Pada penelitian ini juga dilakukan perbandingan kemampuan adsorpsi ZA-EDTA terhadap ion Pb2+ dan Cd2+ dengan kemampuan adsorpsi ZA terhadap kompleks Pb-EDTA dan Cd-EDTA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa spektra FTIR ZA sebelum maupun sesudah modifikasi dengan ligan EDTA tidak menampakkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Namun demikian kemampuan ZA setelah modifikasi dengan ligan EDTA (ZA-EDTA) dalam mengadsorpsi logam lebih tinggi. Hasil uji adsorpsi terhadap ion Pb2+ dan Cd2+ menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi tertinggi oleh ZA-EDTA dengan ukuran partikel ZA 212 pm, sedangkan rasio adsorbat/adsorben terbaik untuk ion Pb2+ adalah 30 mL/g dan untuk ion Cd2+ adalah 20 mL/g. Dari perbandingan yang telah dilakukan juga diketahui bahwa adsorpsi yang dilakukan oleh ZA-EDTA terhadap ion Pb2+ dan Cd2+ lebih baik daripada adsorpsi ZA terhadap kompleks Pb-EDTA dan Cd-EDTA.}, issn = {2597-9914}, pages = {43--47} doi = {10.14710/jksa.11.2.43-47}, url = {https://ejournal.undip.ac.id/index.php/ksa/article/view/3548} }
